What is Liquid Screed ?
Liquid Screeds (aka flowing screeds ) fall into two main categories :-

  1. Anhydrite  ( Gypsum / Calcium Sulphate, rather than cement )
  2. Cementitous ( A mix of sand, cement, screed binder & water )

Liquid Screed is ideal for Under Floor Heating ( UFH ), encasing underfloor heating pipes, creating a fantastic void free medium for absorbing and then radiating heat.

Liquid screeds are delivered to site in a cement mixer, pre-mixed to specification and pumped in directly

They can be laid a lot thinner than traditional screed with no need for reinforcement and over 5 times the volume can be installed in a single day.

How is liquid screed better than traditional screed ?

Liquid screeds can be laid a lot thinner than traditional screed with no need for reinforcement.

Over 5 times the volume can be installed in a single day.

Other benefits are shown in the table on this page

Why is liquid screed better for Underfloor Heating ?

Liquid Screed is ideal for Underfloor Heating ( UFH ),  as it encases the pipes, creating a fantastic void free medium for absorbing and then radiating heat.

This provides increased Thermal Conductivity, improving the efficiency of your Underfloor Heating system.

There is also less chance of damage to pipes during installation

Are there any additional benefits of liquid screed ?

  • High strength : Stronger than sand cement screed. No additional reinforcement required
  • Low shrinkage : As liquid screed requires fewer construction joints, there is less shrinkage.
  • More sustainable : High percentage of recycled material. Does not contain cement
  • Hygenic : Unlike sand cement screeds flowing screed is 100% protein free, making it ideal for application in medical or other areas of hygienic importance as it cannot harbour bacteria

If you have any questions, need more information or would like to chat further about your Liquid Screed project, either fill out the contact form or give Tristan or Liam a call on 01933 716018.
We look forward to hearing from you.

Underfloor heating installers

We use both liquid screed and traditional screed with underfloor heating. Liquid screeds (aka free flowing screeds ) encase underfloor heating pipes, eliminating air bubbles, thus maximising thermal conductivity, creating a fantastic medium for absorbing and then radiating heat up into your room. Traditional sand & cement screeds are sometimes used where there is not sufficient access.
